20 genius ways coaches have inspired their teams

Any Given Sunday

Cinema can also be used to lift the mood and spirits of a struggling squad.

That was the case when Quique Sanchez Flores was in charge of Atletico Madrid and aimed to reverse his side's fortunes by showing the famous speech of Al Pacino, as football coach Tony D'Amato, from the movie Any Given Sunday to put a little fire in their bellies.

It clearly had the desired impact as those inspirational words about effort and courage resulted in the Rojiblancos winning the Europa League and UEFA Super Cup that season.

Atletico's inspiration in Hamburg

Quique Sanchez Flores had a habit of utilising various methods to get the best out of Atletico Madrid. Before their Europa League final against Fulham in Hamburg, he showed his players a specific video which showcased how much it meant to win a trophy as an Atletico player.

Kobe Bryant inspires Atletico

Again, Sanchez Flores was involved at Atletico, this time using quotes by NBA and Los Angeles Lakers star Kobe Bryant to motivate his men during training.

Paraphrasing a little, the message was the same. To win, every single person has to contribute.
